Where will Sheffield be in June?

Of course I am pulling for Sheffield to hit his five hundreth home run. Once he hits it, my question is will be be valuable or helpful to the Tigers? I am afraid he will have yet another injury or he will fizz out. And then there is the question of his steroid use. And if the Tigers are looking to the future can they take up a valuable roster spot with him?

  1. Ever the eternal optimist, I believe Shef has finally recovered from injuries, accepted his lot in life as a DH, and will have a good year for the Tigers.

  2. I'd put him on a short leash. Get into a slump or get hurt, and show him the door. (He's probably got no trade value.)

Loyalty? No such thing in today's baseball environment. In Jerry McGuire's words, "Show me the Money" and there's no money in a loser.

  3. If healthy I believe Gary Sheffield will have a solid year for the Tigers. In the first half half of 2007 before Gary got hurt he was a monster in that lineup. So hopefully he stays healthy and gets his five hundreth homer out of the way quickly.

  4. well .. healthy is a question. He missed the first spring training game due to a slight injury. I know the season is young, but it scares me
