Manny Ramirez - Safe or Out for the All Star Game
MLB announced today that currently Manny is ranked 4th in the fans voting for outfielders for the All Star game. Manny gets off his suspension just days before the game on July 4th. I think this stinks. Any player who is suspended should not be eligible for votes. I understand that he was on the ballot long before his suspension was announced. The solution is simple -- any suspended playeer should not be allowed to receive any votes while under suspension. If he is ineligible to play he is ineligible to receive votes. What do others think?

Agreed. But Commissioner FOX SPORTS rules here. If the fans want it, the fans get it.
ReplyDeleteAgree on no Manny or any other suspended player, but the all-star game is a farce so who cares?
ReplyDeleteSince it's origin, the All Star Game has been something of a trumped up farce, hasn't it?
ReplyDeleteBut we (or should I say I) loved it.
Actually, I think the All Star Game was making a step in the right direction of being fan friendly with the Home Run Derby, but "Manny - Gate" just stinks to high heaven.
Yes, this is blatant showmanship for the sake of the buck. But (here comes my pet peeve from the spring) truly good, quality international baseball was available in the form of the World Baseball Classic, and it was a total flop.
I don't think the fans should vote the starters for the All star game. I think the players, and managers should vote that way you get the players who are having the best year at the time participate and start. That way the best player and not the most popular player is starting. Lets face it although the fans are paying the average fan doesn't know squat!
ReplyDeleteLOL - since I am an average fan - I don't know squat -- WOW
