Rick Porcello

Rick Porcello started last night's game and hurled three scoreless inning against the Marlins. According to the Free Press, "Porcello allowed five hits but held the Marlins scoreless over three innings. His secret? He didn't walk a batter and kept the ball on the ground."

  1. I am really not a fan of rushing prospects but Porcello and Perry are making it kind of hard.

  2. I agree, but I have to admit I'd rather see Porcello (or Perry) on the mound than Willis or Robertson. How sad is that, considering the long-term contracts that Dombrowski was so quick to give those guys? At least Willis is keeping his velocity up, so there is some hope there. Robertson, on the other hand, seems to have gotten 10 years older in only two seasons. I can't watch the guy pitch anymore. It's a horror show.

  3. Well last time the Tigers had to make a tough decision on bringing two young high profile pitchers north out of spring training it turned out pretty good.

  4. Bring 'em both up to Detroit. If Tigers have concerns about the number of innings Porcello puts on his arm, let him pitch the first six innings and Perry can handle the last three.

I must admit, however, I still harbor hope for Dontrelle.

  5. even I, who wants to protect those young arms, am starting to agree that it looks like there really is no choice - bring 'em on!
