Dispensation Needed

Just wanted to ask each of you for a solution to our unique problem. As we have been fortunate enough to purchase tickets for Opening Day, and as having a Hot Dog on Opening Day is part of the ritual, and as Opening Day falls on Good Friday we have a problem. We contacted our personal chaplain, Fr. Ron Victor, and he has not responded. What is a mighty baseball fan to do? HELP!!

  1. I would take his "no comment" as a sign from God that you may have a hot dog on Opening Day. Obviously, God has struck Fr. Ron dumb in this case, to prevent him from giving you bad directions! Enjoy, and eat one for me! (But you might abstain from meat on Holy Thursday or Saturday to show the Lord your penitential heart.)

Oh year, I wouldn't ask Fr. Ron about this again.

  2. Remember Fr. Ozog? I recall one of his conversations about Lent and his position was that Lend ended right at the crucifixtion. If that logic holds, then you could eat meat sometime after one.

  3. And another perspective. A few years back, St. Patrick's Day fell on a Friday and the Grand Rapids diocese waived the meat requirement. I would think that Opening Day has a much greater religious significance than St. Patrick's Day. I mean, was he even a real person (or is that St. Christopher?)

  4. As a vegeterian I advise you to avoid meat on Opening Day or any other day :)

  5. Tom brings up a good point - is there actually any meat in a hotdog?
