Frank Howard

Hey Guys -- What about big Frank Howard? I am not suggesting that he was a great trade or anything, but I was thinking about him. He was mamoth, the bat looked like a toothpick in his hands. I think we got him from the Washington Senators. I remember he got thrown out of a playoff game before the game even started, must have said somethig nasty to the ump. Anybody shed any light on this?

    The guy was HUGE, and could hit a ball. I think I saw him poke one over the third deck in right. (Unfortunately, I was sitting in the cheap seats in the lower deck, and only saw it go for a second.)
    BTW, we bought Frank from Texas for cash, according to the Baseball Encyclopedia in my library.

    I also thought about Big Frank, but he was only with the Tigers for six weeks and only hit one home run. He was fun to watch however. There is no way that I would have wanted to pitch to him.

    Big Frank was an All American in baseball and basketball at Ohio State.
