The first since Reno?

Just watching the Rangers play the Mariners this afternoon.

Rangers broadcasters claim (and I have no reason to doubt) that the Mariners third baseman Alex Liddi is the very first Italian born and developed MLB player. There have been 7 Italian born players in the majors, the last one, the Tigers' utility infielder Reno Bertoia, 1962, a product of San Vito, Udine.

BTW, Liddi struck out his first AB. But I'll bet he makes a mean gnocci.
