Shouod he stay or should he go?

In today's Free Press Drew Sharp says Lelyland deserves a contract extension and does not deserve blame for the Tigers' struggles this season. http://www.freep.com/article/20090619/COL08/906190408

  1. I think Leyland has done a solid job. The Tigers have remained afloat despite injuries to guys they were hoping/counting on to produce (Bonderman, Guillen, Thames, maybe even Willis?), as well as the unexplainable collapse of Ordonez. And Leyland did go against his own gut and bring Porcello north (thank God!), so I think he deserves some props. But let's face it, gentlemen, there is only one reason the Tigers are in contention right now: they play in the worst division in baseball.

  2. It's a long season. Injuries and slumps are to be expected, and are part of the game. The decision should be in the post-season. The management gave Leyland some horses. If he can't produce at least a division flag, he's gone.

  3. BTW, another neat photo by our official photographer, Mr. Hagerty. Look in the reflection of his glasses: was he signing baseballs in Lakeland?
