Time to Give Dontrelle His Walking Papers

Everybody likes Dontrelle Willis as a person, and I'm sure I would too if I met him, but the Tigers just don't have room on their roster after another performance like Sunday's start. After walking in two runs during the first inning, and giving up eight walks in just 3 2/3 innings, even Dontrelle said that it was "just unacceptable."

At least he's taking it like a man. But he'll soon be an unemployed man.

  1. I agree 1000% I love watching him in the dugout, etc., but he is a well paid cheerleader and we need another starter or a hitter. Maybe package Dontrelle with Maggs - who knows??

  2. Chuck,

I'm starting to get the feeling it's only you and me blogging.

  3. From what I saw in Lakeland, Willis is a good guy who is trying hard, but I must agree he has failed to do the job on the mound. Time to slip him over the side? Maybe clean house and say adios to Maggs, Robertson and Guillen too?

  4. I am sure that it is time to take a pass on Dontrelle, but is it time to hand Dombrowski his walking papers? You look at his free agent/trades/contract extensions and you have to wonder. Willis, Sheffield, Robertson, Lyon....He has won a few (Pudge, Maggs), but his recent track record is failing. He has a bunch of contracts that you just can't trade is the team wants to move in another direction.

  5. Goog point, Kooch. Time to clean house and wave farewell to Leyland and Dombrowski after this season unless they go to the World Series.

  6. Tigers put Dontrelle back on the DL yesterday (anxiety). I doubt we'll see him again in a Tiger uniform this season. Leyland also benched Ordonez.
