To Whom It May Concern:

What can we as fans do to influence the voting for Alan Trammell and Jack Morris into the Hall of Fame? I'm thinking of not just for myself but all of us to have our say and influence.

  1. Hate to say it, but the best way to sway voters is through a mail or e-mail campaign, both of which take a lot of time and effort -- and even then, some Hall of Fame voters (the old crusty ones) are totally offended that some fan thinks they know more about baseball than a veteran writer does. Of course, the point is we're all human and need to be a little more opened-minded when it comes to this stuff -- I wasn't sold on Bert Blyleven until a fan shared some well-researched info with me. But when egos are involved, that's a tough road. If you really want to pursue this, go online and get the most up-to-date BBWAA list that you can find and start writing. My advice is to do it in October/November to keep your arguments and support fresh in the voters' minds, as the ballots arrive in the mail in mid-December. Good luck!
