CY Young, here we come?

Was Verlander something else last night? Some excited fans posted a large pre-printed K from the stands with every strikeout. Only problem is that they didn't pre print enough - they had tpo manufacture some on the spot. He is dominating and gets stronger as the game goes along.

Tied with the Indians again. They lost their game when their pitcher was called for a balk with the bases loaded, a cheap way for us to regain a share of first place, but we'll take it.

  1. i was at the game saturday night and Verlander
was as expected (awsome) my only gripe about
going to the game being an actual baseball fan
is there just isnt enough highlights and replays. much easier to really follow the game and see different replays and stats is watching at home. i just think they could do
a better job of replays on the big screen and keeping the fans more informed. for example
Verlander had struck out all 9 d backs at one time and i had no idea

  2. Keith, I'm disappointed in you. Have I taught you nothing? That's why you keep score, boy!!! Brainless morons sit at home, suck back beer, have stats and pretty pictures pumped into their brains.

If you missed a play, you simply wrote "WW" in your scorebook. (Wasn't watching.)

In the old days the Tiger Stadium scoreboards had no pictures, fed you info like "E6" or out of town pitchers like "Balt 23." You needed a decoder ring. Great fun.

Alright, I' half-kidding. But didn't you ever just want to tell the announcers to shut up?

Going to the game is "experiential" kind of like going to church instead of just saying "Lord, I hope that cop didn't see me going 15 over back there." Going to the game you'll hopefully get two or three hours with somebody you like (or love.) Some lulls in the conversation. Comfortable lulls.

    Feel the game.

  3. comfortable lulls..i like that. i bring my 11 year old nephew down there and try and share my experiences and teach him the game the way guys like yourself did for me. But in between hot dogs, ice cream and trips to the bathroom it ends up i miss a play or 2.
i been watching this 10 part documentary on
baseball from the turn of the century to the present, its called ken burns 1st inning thru 10th inning. Its 10 different documentaries all about an hour long, but they keep me glued to the screen

  4. in the ken burns documentary in the 9th and 10th inning parts it talks alot about roberto
clemente and the latin american ball players. gives a great insight on what struggles they go thru and hard it is for them to get from their home country to the pros. brings up a possible topic ...who was or is the best latin
born tiger not named miquel cabrera?? mags...willie hernandez??

  5. OK, let's put it to a vote. See the poll in the upper right hand corner in the next few days. Right now, my choices are

    -Miguel Cabrera
    -Mags Ordonez
-Chico Fernandez (threw ya a curver there, eh?
    -Willie Hernandez
    -Pudge Rodriguez

    others ?

(BTW - glad you didn't take me too seriously on my criticism. So what is an "E6", kid?)
